anybody who has watched a basketball game in the past say 20 years knows that the greatest equalizer in basketball is the 3 point shot. I will guarentee you that George mason didn't make it to the final four by having a good half court trap. And USA basketball doesn't get beat because they arent athletic enough to defend. if you can get hot from down town anybody can beat anybody, no matter how good their "tenacious d" is. that isn't my opinion that is a fact.

comparing Gate City and Twin Springs is a joke. Dont come in on a tale end of a discussion and toss your two cents in. Twin Springs doesnt even compare in terms of defense to GC, TS is a offensive minded school and always have been, except the time the HELD THE BALL WITH THE ALL TIME LEADING SCORER.
Your bias doesnt change the fact, VT may know what he is talking about, but you dont.

TS didnt hold the ball with Stacy Ervin. Burton held the ball on them, I know I played in that game.

How was yours man? At Burton, they dont usually touch a ball for about 3 days. You run and run and run...

Mega, remember that big ole medicine ball that we had to roll across the floor doing the figure eight with. I hated when we had to hold it above our heads and try to touch the backboard, that sucked.

Re: First day of practice?

I thought both teams held the ball. Burton was doing it to TS, TS ended up doing it back to Burton, playing their game and it ended up biting them in the end.
What we've got here is failure to communicate. Some men you just can't reach, so you get what we had here last week which is the way he wants it. Well, he gets it.

I wasn't there, but that was what I was thinking too.

Re: First day of practice?

Yup it bit them back when at the end of their final long hold Stacy Ervin brings it out from half court, is fouled and missed BOTH foul shots.
We get the ball and I can't remember if we get the game winning points off of foul shots or not???

Yeah except I only had to jump about an inch to get the backboard with the medicine ball so I loved that drill

Ok guys, since everyone is confused here goes.
Burton held the ball, then when TS got a lead in the 4th, they decided to hold the ball. They did for about 6 mins or so to get the clock down to about 1:15 or so. They called timeout and bled the clock down to about 30 seconds. Burton fouled Ervin. Ervin missed the front end of a 1-1 not a 2 shot foul. Cambpell brought the ball down the court, set up everything then penetrated to the basket. Dished it off to Sensebaugh. The 7 footer was under the basket. Reggie got the ball up real quick and was able to get it over Horton. The ball went in and Burton took the lead. There was about five seconds left I believe. TS lost the ball(cant remember if it was a steal or what but Burton ended up with the ball again. Campbell inbounded the ball to me, I threw it back to him. He was quickly fouled. Made both shots. That gave Burton a 37-34 lead. Bays inbounded the ball with me in front of him, he threw it deep down the right side but it was too close to the sideline for Ervin to get it and the ball went out of bounds, Burton wins by 3.

Funny enough, Burton trailed the night before with half the team car sick against Garden. Campbell drove to the lane again(both times to his left), dished off to Dirt34, same results, Burton wins at the buzzer.

No since in talking about the final against Haysi.

Seriously though, everyone thinks back about that season like Burton was completely inferior to Twin Springs but Burton was 2-1 against them that year. The only difference was that Horton played in Burton's loss at TS and Burton wasnt able to adjust to his size. Outside of those 3 guys, TS did not have one of their better teams.
